For years, I was lucky to have a stable job I loved in the events industry. It suited me so well that work felt almost effortless. I never imagined leaving it.
But when an opportunity to join a startup arose, something within me stirred. It felt bold and impossibly intriguing.
So, I took a leap and stepped into a world that promised new possibilities.
However, after only a year, the company changed its course, moving away from events, and with that shift, my dream job quickly faded.
Although I explored other options, I felt like I would be resigning myself to a role where I no longer belonged. My passions are in event planning and production, and I didn’t want to give them up.
So, I took another leap—my biggest yet—and started my own events company. This time, I was betting on myself.
It felt like stepping off a cliff.
The fear was real, and one worry clung to me more tightly than any other — that I would fail at all the business tasks I refer to as the “unglamorous side” of entrepreneurship. The responsibility of managing contracts, finances, and operations felt like a heavy burden I wasn’t sure I could bear.
I admit that fear still nudges me from time to time, but I refuse to surrender to it. It’s been a steady learning process. I’ve gained a lot of knowledge, and I keep moving forward.
I’m proud to share that something remarkable also happened! Clients I spent years building relationships with followed me. Their trust felt like a lifeline and a vote of confidence all in one. Their dedication made my transition to business ownership not only possible but also incredibly rewarding.

The biggest difference between then and now is the sense of freedom I’ve gained. I enjoy being in control of my time, choosing projects that inspire me, and having the courage and ability to say no. I’ve also discovered how fulfilling collaborative work can be and have built deeper relationships than any of my previous job descriptions could offer.
My work now feels meaningful, intentional, and more aligned with who I am.
The biggest lesson I learned is not to let fear hold me back. The key is believing in yourself and moving forward despite it.
Often, the safety net you think you’re sacrificing opens the door to something better. In the space beyond certainty, I discovered a version of my life I never knew I wanted.
